Team Communication Guidelines
To keep everyone informed and avoid confusion around practices and races, we use Slack as our primary communication tool. Following the guidelines below will help ensure you don’t miss anything important.
Slack works best when installed on your mobile device.
Steps:
Download the Slack app from the App Store or Google Play
Open the app and sign in
Make sure notifications are enabled (see below)
If Slack is only on your computer, you will likely miss time-sensitive updates.
If you don’t already have access:
Request an invite from coach Brian: bleblanc@ndoracing.org
Use an email address you check regularly
Accept the invite and complete setup
If you’re unsure whether you’re set up correctly, just reach out.
To stay up to date on practices, changes, and race-day information:
Recommended settings:
Enable notifications for:
Direct messages
Mentions (@yourname)
Key channels (see below)
Turn on mobile push notifications
Allow notifications even when the app is closed
You can customize notifications for each channel within Slack settings.

We organize communication to keep things clear and focused:
#general — Important team-wide updates
#practices — Weekly practice info, changes, cancellations
#race-[event name] — Temporary channels for each race (archived afterward)
#coaches - private channel for coach discussion
Make sure notifications are enabled for #practices and any race channels you’re participating in.
We respect your time and attention:
We will limit @channel and @here mentions to truly important updates (for example: cancellations or urgent changes)
Most messages will be posted without mass notifications
Race-specific communication stays in race channels to avoid clutter
Install Slack on your phone
Enable notifications for key channels
Check messages before practices and races
If you’re having trouble with setup or notifications, just ask. We’re happy to help get you set up.
Clear communication helps make practices run smoothly and keeps everyone on the same page.
